Float The Goal
By :
Claudette Rowley
Many people stop short of setting goals because they’re concerned that if they don’t meet them, they’ll experience a sense of failure. I’d like to propose a remedy – it’s a strategy I call “float the goal.” Here’s how it works:
Kenrick Cleveland - Mastering Presupposition
By :
Kenrick Cleveland
Presuppositions must be accepted as true. In a way, that's a bind (and a bind is something I'll explore more fully in an upcoming article). If it is that which "must" be accepted, and must be accepted despite the fact that you didn't say it and it is assumed.
Kenrick Cleveland - Hocus Pocus: Reframing Sugar
By :
Kenrick Cleveland
What's a person to think from this one little banner ad? Their main frame is artificial is bad, natural is good. I can almost get on board with that. Sure. They go on to presuppose that mother nature would never harm us. . . well, I don't know about that, but it's an extension of the first frame. And if mother nature makes the perfect sweetness of sugar, then it's obviously good for us or at least not bad for us. . .or not as bad for us as the media and the AMA has made it out to be.
Max Johnson - Flame Resistant Shirts: Exploring Carhartt And Bulwark
By :
Max Johnson
When exploring what Bulwark or Carhartt has to offer, you will find it is easy to find the exceptional designs. Both are inherently flame resistant offering a unique opportunity to look your best while dressing according to your own preference. In addition, these designs meet regulatory standards for FR garments. Deciding which is right for you often comes down to the task at hand because while both provide exceptional designs and style, each specialized in a certain area.
Kenrick Cleveland - More Linguistic Pitfalls
By :
Kenrick Cleveland
As persuaders, we want to be in the present, staying with now, so that they can see themselves acting immediately. It's never a good idea to put people in their heads, into the past because we want them with us. As the spiritual teacher from the sixties and seventies coined it, 'be here now'. We want our clients and prospects to be here now with us. We're selling them in the present, and they're buying in the present.
Kenrick Cleveland - Softening Language
By :
Kenrick Cleveland
What do all these phrases have in common? Well, for one thing, they are icing on the cake of our persuasion abilities, in essence. If you look back at some of my other articles, you'll see that we have learned to elicit criteria and create a deep rapport with our prospects and clients. Now, by adding these phrases to our conversation, we are polishing the silver, so to speak, making the conversation elegant and creative giving more expression to our persuasion abilities.
Kenrick Cleveland - Self Persuasion Through Organization
By :
Kenrick Cleveland
I don't care much for chaos. If things need to get done but aren't getting done, it upsets me. I realize that with change there is often chaos, and so in an attempt to minimize that, I like to shape that chaos into something simple.
Kenrick Cleveland - Personal Persuasion
By :
Kenrick Cleveland
In business, the rules of professional decorum tell us that we shouldn't get too personal with our prospects or clients. Of course, there are absolutely topics which should not be brought up and things which shouldn't be said, but I truly believe that our prospects and clients are looking for us to get personal.
Kenrick Cleveland - Cultivate Your Curiosity
By :
Kenrick Cleveland
I am of the opinion that we can have everything that we want. We can both have satisfying work that pays us really well and a happy and fulfilling family life which we have plenty of time to nurture. We can choose to continue to grow and learn new ideas and cultivate our interests at any point in our lives.
Maureen Arnold - The Laws Of Attraction - And How To Use Them
By :
Maureen Arnold
There are rules to every game, and the game of attraction is no different. Each rule is important in itself - break them all and you will fail miserably with women. Learn them all - and you will party like a rock star.
Steven Vannoy And Craig Ross - Five Steps To Teaching An Old Boss New Tricks
By :
Steven Vannoy And Craig Ross
Step One: Check yourself by asking, "Am I attempting to fix my boss – or build and develop her?" Most people use the "fix-it" approach when trying to change other people's behaviors. This communicates that a person has a flaw or failure, as if they're not complete. There aren't many people who respond well to such messages.

Susan Dunn - What Can Be Learned From The Spitzer Incident
By :
Susan Dunn
"... one of the legions of family therapists who have been called into action by journalists and talk shows in a post-Spitzer surge, told me that the answer boils down simply to this: “It’s in the limbic system.” Eh? That’s the pleasure center in the brain, she said, it handles “motor skills and primitive impulses.” Oh. In other words, the intelligent, angelic part of the brain that tells you, “No, no, this is wrong, you’ll never get away with it,” is completely overwhelmed by the devilish part that says, “C’mon! You can do it! You’re superman.
Bette Dowdell - The Terrible Consequences Of Conformity
By :
Bette Dowdell
Teachers extol fitting in as a form of crowd control, pointing to the most passive kid in the room as the standard of model behavior. Warping the hearts of children is just so much collateral damage and not important.
Jacoba Fenny - Learn How To Make Baby Play Time Fun & Educational
By :
Jacoba Fenny
One thing you can do is turn cleaning up into a fun game. When your baby is a few months old and sitting up on their own this game can provide them with hours of entertainment. Spend time showing your child how to remove toys from a toy box or a bag that you have designated solely for the purpose of this little activity. Once you have removed the toys show your infant how to pick the toys up off the ground and place them back in the bag.
Kim Olver - Developing Win/Win/Win Outcomes
By :
Kim Olver
Negotiation is a behavior a person has to learn. Most people don’t have an aversion to the other person winning, as long as they can win, too. However, most of us are unfamiliar with a true win/win model and believe it involves compromise, meaning one or both people have to at least give up some of what they want. This still feels like losing in many cases.
Lynn Claridge - 10 Ways To Stay In A Rut Forever
By :
Lynn Claridge
Being stuck in a rut can drag you down, make you feel depressed, or as if life is something you just go through but have long since stopped enjoying. You become this way slowly without even realizing it, until one day you wonder what happened and when.
Bob Miller - No More War Lies, Please
By :
Bob Miller
What these attractive messages don’t tell you is the real cost of joining –Vietnam War veterans learned their lessons through the military and will tell you that joining the armed forces is not what you make it, but what those up the chain of command make it. There’s a reason why the anti-war movement exists today; don’t be the next victim of war lies and end up risking your life for somebody else’s agenda. The young troops that Americans claim they support, who are now in prison and must live with a dishonorable discharge if they are ever released, didn't set up Abu Ghraib prison, and they most certainly didn't plan the daily events that took place there.
Fran Elster & Mary Caprio - Getting Unstuck Through Acknowledging The Past
By :
Fran Elster & Mary Caprio
An outside observer would have to wonder what you are talking about, staring at all that abundance and hearing you proclaim that there is nothing there for you. That is what we call Being Stuck. You have everything that you need to provide you with a full and happy life, but it just doesn't satisfy you.
Onur Sarikas - Ask For Directions - Never!
By :
Onur Sarikas
Guys (good ones anyway) pride themselves on being problem solvers, we like to take care of things for you. Yeah, we might slip up and forget to take out the trash or tidy up after ourselves but we're generally a very diligent bunch when it comes to doing things for our ladies. And that includes knowing the way to the restaurant or to the lake. I, like many guys, will cheat and do a Mapquest search if I don't know exactly where I'm going. But that doesn't mean I'm going to print out the directions.
Alan Lim - Work At Home : Tips On How To Be Successful To Make A Living At Home
By :
Alan Lim
When you work at home, you often need some ready cash in order to get started. The financial backing may be to pay more a membership in a listing service, or to receive some needed training, or the purchase an e-book that tells you about methods or procedures that will help you toward your financial goals. Ryan Ginster - 7 Crucial Steps To Becoming An Inspirational Coach
By :
Ryan Ginster
Even in the corporate world, lessons learnt from coaching still remain relevant. The handlers, front-liners and even benchwarmers in your company are all bidding their time to perform, eager to impress you, the coach. Like sports, some corporate players are MVP matieral, some are simply to support your star players while the unfortunate some, are capable of nothing more than benchwarmers. However, everyone wants to be in the spotlight, to get a pat on the back and the coach's praise. It is often difficult to accept that the star players are always in the limelight while you are sitting back on the bench.
Tom Horvath - Preventing Relapse To Addictive Behavior: The Role Of Lifestyle Balance
By :
Tom Horvath
Perhaps the greatest risk for imbalance comes when we are too focused on what we “should” do and not enough on what we want to do. Of course, we need to do what we should do. But in balance! One comparison for this is someone who places too large a portion of income into retirement funds. Daily life becomes constrained. There is also the risk that a “binge” of spending may undo the savings, in order to experience some more immediate well being. More balanced money management could prevent the desire for a binge.

Alain Picard - Socks - Make Sure They Match More Than Just Each Other
By :
Alain Picard
When it comes to socks, you may think they are a pretty simple fashion item that does not take much thought or effort to include into your wardrobe but a good pair - and the right pair of socks can make or break your entire outfit. For undoubted sophistication you can't go wrong by matching the color of your socks to the color of your shoes. So, that means that if you are wearing black shoes, then ideally you should also be wearing black socks, if you are wearing brown shoes brown socks, etc. It's very simple if you keep it to color matching!
John Smith - When Is Father’s Day?
By :
John Smith
To be honest, the chances of anyone who lives within 200 miles of western civilisation forgetting Father’s Day are very slim indeed. The early warning sirens will have given you at least a month’s notice. Card shop windows will be prodding you with subtle capitalised slogans, pubs and restaurants will be advising you to “Book now for Father’s Day”, which is nice of them, and even the new page on your calendar will have that telltale little subheading under the date. And that doesn’t take into account the fact that your dad has started being extra nice to you and asking your mum how she enjoyed Mother’s Day.

Robert A. Meyer - Renunciation And Non-Attachment - Stumbling Blocks To Joyous Living
By :
Robert A. Meyer
It is apparent that most people don't adopt a life of asceticism. However many do renounce the many pleasures of the flesh believing they will find the spiritual path of ecstasy and salvation. They think they have conquered the erring ways of the body only to discover that life is less than it could be. They finally justify their misery by rationalizing that suffering is the spiritual path--not realizing that they are now attached to their suffering.

There is no doubting Ric Edelman’s credentials he has an impressive resume. He has sold millions of books and his financial planning firm manages close to $2 billion. By :
Jon Caldwell
This is where most of the will cover and will not cover discussions are located and as we have stated, anything that is on your policy should be reviewed with great caution. Like all insurance policies, they vary from provider to provider and so does the amounts they entail. One package from a provider may have different exclusions ands inclusions as they are as different as the places they are offered. Most will have a clause that indicates “financial default” which means they are free of liability if and when they declare bankruptcy.
Dr.Eswararamanan VR - Run Your Car On Water To Save Gas And Money
By :
Dr.Eswararamanan VR
First, you need to understand that your car won't run solely on water. What you're actually going to create is known as a water hybrid. If you remember high school chemistry, you'll probably recall that water consists of two molecules: hydrogen and oxygen. A process known as electrolysis is used on the water so the hydrogen and oxygen can be used to run the car. Water vapor is the only waste product and that is emitted from the car into the atmosphere.

Eileen DeClemente - The Light
By :
Eileen DeClemente
That did not feel good at all, in fact it was very sad at times. I would actually cry at times when I was alone but I didn't want anyone to think I cared about anything. Alcohol and different drugs helped me so I experimented with them for a short time thinking it would help. Drugs like marijuana, speed, cocaine, and prescription pills like sleeping pills and tranquilizers; I didn't care what they were as long as I could get a hold of something. I was not afraid to try any kind of substance at time went on because in the beginning I would be afraid if I drank too much alcohol that something would happen to me but that didn't last long.
Karen Hastings, Edinburgh - Mind Yourself!
By :
Karen Hastings, Edinburgh
Working using Cognitive therapy, during NLP, CBT and Hypnotherapy sessions in Hertfordshire and now Edinburgh, time and time again I see this approach to life exaggerated in client’s with anxiety based disorders and depression. Jon Caldwell - Seek Dental Restoration Based on Trends Today
By :
Jon Caldwell
The nerve of the tooth is what keeps it alive. But in time, it will excrete extra proteins/nutrients to the dentin, which may make the already yellow layer, darker and will be noticeable to people because of your white-translucent enamel. So, as much as you can clean your enamel, it still is not enough given that it is translucent in a way, and the problem is really within. As you get older, it will be inevitable that your teeth will be noticeably yellower by the decade. And the most probable solution to this is to bleach it.
Jon Caldwell - Feel the Difference With Proper Dental Restoration
By :
Jon Caldwell
Media reports on foreign made dental crowns discovered in laboratory tests that they contained lead at 200 parts per million. This alarmed the American Dental Association, which then alerted the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. The ADA conducted tests on foreign and locally made dental crowns. The CDC has said that the amount of lead is “highly unlikely” to be dangerous. Domestic dental laboratories may outsource production overseas, in which case it has to import crowns, bridges, and other dental devices.
Jon Caldwell - When to Admit the Need For Dental Implants
By :
Jon Caldwell
When a patient is missing only one tooth, the single tooth replacement method may be used to replace the missing tooth using one implant and one crown. As the implant replaces the root and as the attached crown replaces the visible tooth, the patient will notice that dental implant looks and feels more natural. Also, in the single tooth replacement method, the neighboring teeth are untouched, therefore, minimizing future complications. Other treatments typically used in replacing a missing single tooth include a tooth-supported fixed bridge which lets the adjacent teeth support the cemented bridge.

Some birthmarks are considered sexually alluring when they appear on the face, and others will make the mark seem like a disfigurement. This style of cosmetic concealer can also be useful by helping hide dark patches of skin when it appears under the eyes. Cosmetics fix imperfections like this when they are caused by lack of sleep and other health resources might be required if the dark rings under the eye are caused by deficiencies in vitamins and minerals that were not gained through a proper diet.

Janine Carter - The Rigging of the Western Saddle
By :
Janine Carter
There are basically two types of rigging: conventional in tree rigging and inskirt rigging. Conventional rigging places the bulk of the cinch strap under the rider's leg. Inskirt rigging is just as secure. With it, the rigging hardware is built directly onto the saddle skirt, either built directly on the skirt or for extra security, built "in" the skirt, where the rigging is attached to an extra metal plate between two layers of leather on the skirt. Some will tell you they think the "in-tree" rigging is the stronger of the two, but both are proven sturdy.

Janine Carter - Why Should You Buy a Dog Kennel
By :
Janine Carter
For this reason, kennels can be a great tool for house training. An appropriately-sized kennel will be a huge aid toward this effort as usually a puppy will not soil the place where they must lay. Kennels will help a puppy control his or her bladder as they must hold urination until they are let out at certain times of the day. In the first three days you have your puppy or dog, he should be confined to the kennel only and let out at planned times to go outside and urinate. After eating and a brief playtime your dog should be kenneled again to assure they don't wander off and urinate somewhere in your home.

Alain Picard - Choosing Neckties: Which One Should You Really Buy?
By :
Alain Picard
In terms of choosing a tie, there are some things you should remember other than the color and style. It helps to attempt to wear the neck tie on and see whether it fastens a knot fine. When trying on the tie, its front end should be long enough to touch the waist of your pants. Also check whether you have a tie knot proportional to the collar. The tie knot shouldn’t be too big so that it spreads the color, and neither should it be too small to the point that it gets lost in the collar.

Though desks were historically designed to also hold the student's books, papers and school supplies, contemporary schools are beginning to implement mobile study environments. So, instead of learners remaining at one desk and in a classroom, they move from room to room and bring their supplies with them. That mobility removes the need for desks with drawers or storage compartments.

Tom Horvath - Addiction as Mismanaged Desire
By :
Tom Horvath
I leave out of this discussion some Eastern approaches to living, in which the goal of proper living is the elimination of desire. In the Western tradition life is about satisfying desire. Some desires have their own names: hunger, thirst, greed, lust. Otherwise, we speak of desiring (seeking, wanting, wishing for) various objects and situations in our lives. We feel these desires with varying degrees of intensity. We spend our time identifying, sorting and acting on our desires. We attempt to satisfy those reasonably within our reach.

You'll need to know about sharpening angles then. A person shouldn't be sharpening a knife if there's no mind to the angle. It is essential. It determines the purpose of the knife, how it can be used. Pay close attention to them. If you don’t, you really will be wasting time. The sharpening angle of a knife is the sloping angle of the edge. It determines the cutting effectiveness of each knife. When you achieve the right sharpening angle, the edge will be as sharp as possible for as long as possible when used correctly.

Tom Horvath - Should People Who Need Addiction Recovery Have Choices?
By :
Tom Horvath
“Why don’t you get it? It’s SO obvious! You are becoming addicted! Look at the damage you are causing, to yourself, to me, and to everyone who cares about you. YOU NEED TO STOP! I’m arranging to send you to treatment.”
Tom Horvath - Ending Recoveryism
By :
Tom Horvath
A recent example of recoveryism is found in James Frey’s book, A Million Little Pieces. Although aspects of Frey’s book have come under intense criticism, I suspect the recoveryism aspect of his writing is accurate. He describes his two month stay in residential treatment, and the intense hours just before and after that experience. Given the information about the age, prestige and location of the facility (see especially page 7) it is reasonable to suppose that he attended Hazelden, in Minnesota.
Tom Horvath - Treating Psychiatric and Addiction Comorbidity With a Cognitive-behavioral (Non-12-step) Approach
By :
Tom Horvath
At present there appear to be three potential solutions to this problem. Some providers might persuade themselves that this fundamental difference in treatment approach does not actually exist. If the client agrees, all may be well. However, if the client does experience a conflict between self-empowerment and powerlessness, then one approach could be dropped in favor of the other. Thus, the second possible solution would be to take a purely CBT approach and the third solution, a purely 12-step approach.

Bill Mallett - 4 Tips For Buying a Harley Davidson Seat
By :
Bill Mallett
As easy as it looks don't decide which Harley Seat to buy out of a magazine or a catalog. It's very difficult to truly get an idea what a seat will look like visually from a picture. A seat that looks great on a bagger might look terrible on your lowered softail and you're kind of stuck with it once you buy it. I would always recommend that you try to find a motorcycle with the seat already mounted on it so you can get the full visual effect. At the very least search for pictures of your model bike with that model of seat.

Choosing and fitting selected apparel will have some things to consider. Look for your size. Choose the apparel your eyes loved to see, at least choose three different kinds. Go to the fitting room and fit it in. While fitting each one of them, pose yourself in the mirror and act like a model of the apparel you chose because no one really can tell if you really look good except when you have friends around with you during those times. Or you can also call the sales lady to have their ideas on it alternatively.

Tom Knapp - The Best Package Opener For Moving Supplies, Shipping Boxes, And Everyday Use
By :
Tom Knapp
Some workers, faced with a stiffly-wrapped package and no package opener in sight, will opt for brute force. They pull, push, pry, poke and tear on the flaps of the box, all to no avail. They yank on the loose end of the packing tape until it tears - or doesn't tear. The use of teeth is not unknown. Shoulders strain, fingers get cut, and the boxes are reduced to tatters sometimes along with the materials inside. Other workers, bereft of a utility knife, will assault a perfectly innocent parcel in a sometimes dangerous approach with all manner of blunt objects in a sometimes dangerous approach a jackknife, butter knife, the handle of a spoon, sewing scissors, screw driver, keys, letter opener, fork, the sharp end of a pen, or whatever is handy, and the upshot, usually, is bent utensils, dull scissors, and sore shoulders, at best.
Tony Nibbinsworth - Caring For Commercial Furniture: Fabric
By :
Tony Nibbinsworth
One excellent rule of thumb when it comes to caring for your fabric commercial furniture is that you need to protect it from the damage of the sun whenever possible. The sun's UV rays can lead to fading of your furniture. This is especially true if part of your furniture comes into contact with direct sunlight while the remainder of your sofa or favorite overstuffed armchair does not. The result will be fading and discoloration that is not consistent. This will diminish your enjoyment of your furniture and the potential resale value should you decide to sell your furniture in the future.
